La Duchesse Dr. Bronwen McShea | Thursday, November 9, 7:00 PM Bronwen McShea, a visiting history professor at the Augustine Institute will speak on her most recent book, La Duchesse. It is the story of Marie de Vignerot, a Catholic laywoman who spent her fortune to promote true culture and the Church, and was a friend of St. Vincent de Paul, established the first Catholic hospital in the Americas, and ran a salon out of her home in which she supported Catholic artists and writers.
Holy Name Salons
Inspired by Marie de Vignerot and Dr. Bronwen McShea’s talk, we will be offering two salons! A salon was a conversational gathering of intellectuals, artists, and politicians, who would meet in a home to discuss their work, educate, and delight in art.
